Attracting People To Your Site

Blog Talk for web promotionJust because you have an online presence doesn’t mean that people will easily find you. Besides having your URL on your business card and any other offline advertising, what else can you do?  Why not try some of these ways of driving traffic to your website or blog?

  • Article marketing – write 400 to 700 word articles and submit them to article directories such as ezinearticles. Include a link to your site in the resource box at the end of the article. Other websites will take your content to use on their sites and all will be linking back to yours.
  • Forum marketing – become an active, helpful member of a forum where your potential customers congregate. Although you can’t advertise there, you can include a link to your site in your signature.
  • Yahoo Answers (answers.yahoo.com) – answer questions in your field with a link back to your site.
  • Viral marketing – release helpful reports, with a link back to your site,  that others are allowed to download and pass around.
  • Social networking – become active on TipDrop, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Start blogging and build interaction with your clients.
  • Create Squidoo lenses and Hubpages hubs.
  • Write online press releases of 250-300 words as often as you like to free or paid services.
  • Learn a little about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and use keywords on your site.
  • Use social bookmarking sites to share your content.
  • Comment on other people’s blogs.
  • Post useful content that other sites will want to link to.
  • Funnel traffic from eBay, Youtube, Blog Talk Radio, iTunes, Craigslist, Kijiji, and Wikipedia.

Have I missed anything?
