Objectives For 2010
As we come to the beginning of a new year, what are your objectives concerning your website? Since I have a number of sites, I found it very helpful to write down my Internet plans for 2010. I tried to focus on my main objective for each site and decide on any regular features I want to incorporate.
For instance, with my Internet Marketing site, my objective is to journal my progress as I create information products and as I set up my first membership site online. In the past, I’ve written about a number of things related to Internet Marketing with no real focus on specific topics.
I intend to provide regular weekly updates of my progress in both areas, including reviews of anything I’ve had to use to achieve my goals. Once the membership site is active, I’ll be including features from my members.
I’m also in the process of creating an editorial calendar for the year. I’ve never done that before, but as a member of Lynn Terry’s Elite Forum, we are challenged every month to complete projects like this one.
The editorial calendar will give me specific ideas about what to write on each of my sites. It isn’t meant to be rigidly followed, but helps keep me on track. I can write other things as well, but this gets me started.
I’m using a calendar that lists a lot of special days, such as Secretary Day. From there, I brainstorm topic ideas. That way, each week of the month I start with an idea and expand on it. For instance, one of the days mentioned was Red Day. Red got be thinking about bold colours, which got me thinking about image. That ended up as a topic about ‘how to get your site noticed’. I haven’t finished the calendar yet, but can see its usefulness already.
So there you have it. It is taking a little time, but now I have a much better plan for the year ahead. How are you preparing for 2010 and are your online objectives clearly laid out?
