As marketers, we should always be looking for new ways to promote ourselves and our businesses, both online and off. Have you ever thought about recording your own radio show? People are interested in your expertise and experience and they want to hear about it.
Thanks to the Internet, broadcasting a radio show is no more difficult than dialing a phone number and talking to your guests, either live or as a recorded segment. Services such as Blog Talk Radio allow you to get your message out quickly and easily. Whether it’s a one time episode or a regular show, you’ll enjoy interacting with your market and promoting yourself and your company.
Added bonuses – your show can easily be placed on your website and added to Itunes so your fans can listen at their leisure, and you’ll get new traffic to your site as listeners find your show.
Have a listen to my first attempt at Internet radio and let us know when you try it yourself. You’ll wonder why you waited so long to start.

Just because you have an online presence doesn’t mean that people will easily find you. Besides having your URL on your business card and any other offline advertising, what else can you do? Why not try some of these ways of driving traffic to your website or blog?
- Article marketing – write 400 to 700 word articles and submit them to article directories such as ezinearticles. Include a link to your site in the resource box at the end of the article. Other websites will take your content to use on their sites and all will be linking back to yours. Read more…
As an online business, the bulk of your customers will come from search engines. Therefore, you want your business website to be optimized for search engine traffic.
While most people would suggest that you hire a professional, there is really nothing about search engine optimization, or SEO, that you can’t do yourself. SEO is much easier than designing your own website or turning your visitors into buyers.

The first step you need to take is to eliminate any duplicate content that you may have on your website. This means that if you have two products that are exactly the same but differ in color or some other small characteristic, put them on the same page. You may or may not have heard of Hub pages. They were new to me, but are another great way of driving traffic to your website or blog. Hubs also help you become known online as an expert in your niche.
Although they each use different terms, Hub pages are similar to Squidoo lenses as far as content. Each hub contains information on just one area of the niche, for instance “conducting an interview” would be a complete Hub topic.
I recently enjoyed reading a short report by Melanie Bremner called “Hubbing with Hubpages for Fun and Profit”. Melanie covers a number of concepts in her report, including how to:
- set up a profile on Hubpages
- create a hub
- understand the rating system used for hubpages
- socialize and become known as a quality writer and expert in your field
- promote a product or service without creating a commercial hub
- build traffic to your hub
- properly utilize and set up SEO tags and keywords for the best results
At 22 pages complete with screenshots, this detailed report left me eager to set up my own Hubpage. The tips on getting traffic to your Hub can readily be adapted to any website or blog. And at only $5, it’s a great investment in your Internet learning.
