Attracting People To Your Site

Blog Talk for web promotionJust because you have an online presence doesn’t mean that people will easily find you. Besides having your URL on your business card and any other offline advertising, what else can you do?  Why not try some of these ways of driving traffic to your website or blog?

  • Article marketing – write 400 to 700 word articles and submit them to article directories such as ezinearticles. Include a link to your site in the resource box at the end of the article. Squidoo

SquidooPart blog, part social networking, a Squidoo lens will help you to gain traffic to your main website and establish you as an expert in your field. Each lens consists of information, graphics, and products about a very specific topic – for example, a lens might be about packing for a business trip.

Simple to create and fun to build, with plenty of helpful tutorials and forums, Squidoo lenses are also great for doing research about any number of subjects.  Start your Squidoo lens at squidoo.com and make sure you link back to your main site. You can link to your social media accounts and even to affiliate sites. Squidoo also has a revenue sharing program so that if your lens becomes popular, you will receive funds either for yourself or to donate to charity.

Some people enjoy creating Squidoo lenses so much that they have done hundreds and been given the title Giant Squid. Sounds like a fun place to be, don’t you think? Not to mention a great way to find out what your target market are saying about the topics that matter to you and your business.

There are so many ways to get traffic to your site that it makes sense to spend some of your effort on high visibility websites such as Squidoo. Have you looked at this option yet?

NAMS New Membership Program

four generations at namsThis past weekend I was in Atlanta for the  NAMS (Niche Affiliate Marketing Systems) workshop I attend twice a year. We enjoyed a great hotel, delicious meals, informative workshops, and great networking – especially around the fire pit in the evenings.

Although I was exhausted at the end of the three days, I was more than happy I went. As well as hands on workshops in everything from WordPress security to video marketing, these were some of the highlights for me:

  • keynotes by Kathleen Gage and Paul Evans.
  • a fifteen minute brainstorming session with Mark Hendricks
  • won Dragon Naturally Speaking software in one of the many draws
  • was given an autographed book by Kathleen Gage as were my mother, daughter, and grandson since we were there as four generations – and yes, my 86 year old mother blogs and sells information products (that’s a photo of the four of us at the beginning of this post)
  • Amazon and Kindle publishing tips from Kevin Riley
  • Seeing a number of people register their first domain name and set up their first WordPress blog, all by themselves
  • meals with some of the best online marketers around
  • the opportunity to spend time with people who are changing the world for good, whether it be orphanages in other countries or heart surgeries for children who would never be able to afford them.

If you’ve never attended a live marketing event, I encourage you to make the effort to go to one like NAMS – no sales pitches, just solid information and encouragement that will take your business to the next level.

Carol BremnerP.S. NAMS creator, David Perdew, has created a membership site that will allow members the opportunity to attend the live events at a deep discount. I joined as soon as I got home, since right now fees are 90% off. For under $10 a month, I can access the forum, attend the monthly webinars and q and a sessions. The special reports and extra training will be nice, but being able to talk to established marketers who want to help me succeed online is my main reason for joining.  And since NAMS gets more popular every year, tickets to NAMS7 in Atlanta next February will probably be sold out to the members. If you decide to join, ignore the $97 a month price tag. Make sure you put in the coupon code MYNAMS90 and it will adjust the price.

P.P.S  Let me know if you plan to come to NAMS7 in Atlanta and I’ll introduce you to as many people as I can. (If you’re a member you can use the coupon code LifeChanging for a big discount on the event.)

Traffic Through Articles

Writing articles is one of the best ways to get traffic to your blog or website. Write an interesting, short article on a topic that shows your expertise, in easily understood language, and end it with your name, a call to action or reason for them to click for more information, and a link to your website. Then post the articles on an Internet Article Directory, such as EzineArticles  and watch the traffic come to your site.

Your article will be picked up by any number of websites, depending on your topic, and may even be translated into other languages. Then every time someone goes to those websites, they see your article and the link back to your site. Which also impresses Google that other related sites are linking to you and raises your popularity in Google’s eyes.

Jeff Herring calls himself the Article Marketing Guy. Did you watch his video at the top of this post? I hope it inspired you to take action and start getting more traffic by writing interesting, informative articles for others to use. Jeff is a faculty member at the NAMS workshop that I attend in Atlanta and really knows his stuff.

P.S. Did you notice the impressive Ezine Articles Expert Author badge on the right side of this site? You’ll get one too, once you’ve written and submitted a number of articles to them. And if you don’t have the time or the desire to write articles yourself, my team might be able to help with that. Contact me, either by phone or email, for a free consultation.
