Host a Blog

BloggerAnyone can start a blog, without expense, by using the free blog software at blogger.com

Filled with easy to create modules, Blogger offers a simple way to test the interest in your new idea, to send traffic to other sites, to establish yourself as an expert in your field, and to collect names of interested possible customers. You can even make money with your blog by inserting adsense ads and links to affiliate products.

Blogger is a great way for older people to capture their experiences and knowledge for the sake of future generations. Although not the best choice for your main web presence since Blogger has been known to delete the blogs of those it deems improper or too sales focused, it’s fine as a secondary site or a main one for non-businesses.

Did I mention that Google loves Blogger blogs and grants them a place in the search engine rankings fairly quickly? I also use Blogger as extra content to feed into my main site using its RSS capability. RSS is the Internet equivelant to having a syndicated newspaper column that shows up in one newspaper initially and is broadcast to others as well.

Have I convinced you yet? Why not try out some of the features Blogger has to offer and add it to your arsenal of online promotional tools?

What Is An InfoProduct?

My DVD coverEvery one of us is an expert at something and there are other people who want to know what you know. So why not create an infoproduct?  It can be an eBook, an audio or video file, or a hardcover book or cd. Or maybe a package that includes all of those things. With the help of today’s software and other online applications, none of those possibilities are beyond the reach of either our finances or our ability.

Non-techie that I am, I now have an ebook on Amazon Kindle, a physical copy of the same book, and an audio version on cd that I plan to use as a promotional tool. I’ve had help from my virtual assistant with some of the more challenging aspects, but writing the book and recording the audio were possible without technical know-how.

What can you share with the world as an info product of some kind? There is no better way to establish yourself as an expert in your field. Now what are you waiting for?

P.S. If you’re having trouble getting started, my team can help.

Essential Social Media Tools

video screenPeople tend to do business with companies they know, like, and trust. A personal relationship grows with the help of a blog, Twitter, and Facebook, No longer are you just the store down the street. You’ve become a person who understands the needs of your market, someone who can be trusted for customer service and quality. An advertisement in the phone book or local paper could never produce that kind of loyalty.

Interacting with your potential clients doesn’t have to be time consuming. Sites such as Hootsuite.com allow you to update Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn in a matter of minutes. In addition, whenever you come across an informative website that might benefit your audience, click the Hootlet tool to instantly send the web address to those networks.

Once you start reaping the benefits of positive customer interaction, why not add audio and video to your online marketing efforts? A simple two or three minute video uploaded to Youtube will add another dimension to your business. It could be a tip on how to use one of your products or questions about when your service might be needed. If you prefer photos and PowerPoint slides, go to Animoto.com and create a short film complete with royalty free music, then upload that to Youtube.

Host your own Internet radio show at BlogTalkRadio.com. The show can be live or pre-recorded, anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, a one-time event or a regular listing. Interview someone or use the time to discuss a topic of interest to your listeners. The resulting audio can be downloaded via iTunes or placed on your website for future visitors.

When using social media tools, always include a link back to your website for more information. Not only will you gain traffic to your site, but all of those inbound links from high ranking websites will help your position in the search engines. It’s possible to get your site on the first page of Google simply by posting a video on Youtube.

Promoting your business on the Internet can be an enjoyable way to reach out to your target market. By knowing your objectives, you can focus on using the right methods of social media for you. Which tools work best for you?

Website Objectives

What are your objectives concerning your website? Since I have a number of sites, I found it very helpful to write down my Internet plans for the year. Try to focus on your main objective for each site and decide on any regular features to incorporate.

For instance, with my Internet Marketing site, my objective is to journal my progress as I create information products and as I set up my first membership site online. In the past, I’ve written about a number of things related to Internet Marketing with no real focus on specific topics.

Provide regular weekly updates about your business – anything that your target market would find interesting. Answer frequently asked questions.

Why not create an editorial calendar for the year? The calendar will give you Continue reading
